And I got to help cover his visit for the Times.
That meant I got to interview people who were invited inside for Obama’s speech at Alcoa Davenport Works in Riverdale, Iowa, and listen to his speech in person. I also took a lot of photos.
But the most popular photo I took from the entire event was this one: The inside of a portable toilet parked outside Alcoa for the event.
It was an amazing porta-potty. Glamorous, even. The toilet had GRANITE COUNTERTOPS, complimentary tissues and plenty of room for yourself and possibly your whole family to square dance as they wait.
No word on who paid for this toilet, or how much it cost.
And, no, it wasn’t for the president to use. It was for visitors, like me … although I didn’t need to go at the time. But I did go inside and gawk (and snap a photo).
So, there you go.
And in other news … If you were listening to us visit this morning on Mix 96, KMXG 96.1 FM, you heard us talking about a mom-zilla. This was the story of a prospective mother-in-law who sent her soon-to-be daughter-in-law a scathing email about her “lack of manners,” but seemed to sound pretty rude herself.
If you haven’t heard about this, check out the email here. It’s gone viral on the Internet. That’s got to feel good, huh?
Luckily, I have a great mother-in-law, but not everyone does. Can you imagine your mother-in-law doing something like that? Do you have any horror stories of your own to share?
